In the early 1980s, Seattle was looking for a new nickname, and received the nickname the 'Emerald City' as a result of a contest that was held within the city, as a reference to all of the incredible lush evergreen trees that can be found throughout the entire city. Seattle is also informally referred to as the Rainy City, though it tends to be more cloudy than rainy. If you enjoy cloudy, cool weather with a chance of rain, and a busy bustling city with plenty to do and see, then Seattle may just be the perfect wedding destination for you. There are so many great reasons to visit Seattle, including the fact that the city is the birthplace of the popular Starbucks coffee brand and a variety of other popular coffee companies as well including Seattle's Best Coffee and Tully's Coffee.
